OUR HISTORY

History of Gloryfield and its School

Gloryfield International College, Ile-Oluji was founded by a renowned Educationist and Economist Late Olori Assistant Pastor Florence Olanireti Adedugbe, a graduate of the University of London (BA 1967), PGDE, University of Lagos (1978) and PGDT RCCG 2003. She retired from the Federal Inspectorate of Education in 1995.

The college is located in a serene and peaceful Oke-Alaafia West, now Oba S.S. Adedugbe Way, Ile-Oluji. At this location, the college is close to the major road linking Ile-Oluji to Osun state and is about four kilometres to Ondo town and 40 kilometres to Akure, the Ondo state capital.

On 23rd August, 1993, the Ondo state Government gave approval to establish the college as a co-educational institution. The college was also accredited by the National Board for Educational Measurement, now NECO in 1996 to take NECO conducted JSC examination. Likewise, on 12th March, 1998, the Ondo state Government accredited the college for Science, Liberal Arts, Business and Technical Studies.

The college is fully accredited by both WAEC and NECO for the Senior School Certificate Examinations. Infact, the excellent performances of Gloryfield students in these external examinations and the outstanding performances of Gloryfield products in their different tertiary institutions are the testimonials of the excellence of the college products in every sphere of life.

At our skill acquisition centres, Gloryfield offers the talented students the necessary human resources and tools for becoming successful and outstanding in their future careers.

The vision of the late Proprietress was to bring up children who will be God-fearing, disciplined and successful assets and leaders both nationally and internationally in a rapidly changing world. At Gloryfield, the vision is to make students enjoy the experience of an extra-ordinary discovery of themselves and their potentials to become responsible, disciplined, confident, self-reliant products and accountable leaders.

Towards high academic excellence, students’ academic records are continuously monitored and evaluated by teachers. Teachers attend workshops and seminars on how to be more effective and productive in a constantly changing world of information.

In Gloryfield we depend on God for our academic success and discipline. The proprietress, staff and students have a complete dependence on the Almighty God, the custodian of wisdom. We have achieved all things through Him.

Since the inception of Gloryfield, the school has never experience any hitch of closure. We praise the Almighty God for His mercy and loving kindness.

Over the years, the college has lived and maintain a high moral standard and academic excellence which have put her on a high pedestal among her peers. The school is noted for general cleanliness. In sports and other co-curricular activities, the college remain a force to be reckoned with. It is indeed wonderful that every year of her existence, Gloryfield has witnessed greater accomplishments over the previous years.

On the 31st day of October, 2020, the Proprietress, Olori Florence Olanireti Adedugbe heed the heaven’s call after a successful and purposeful sojourn on earth. She was a great mother, grandmother, proprietress, counsellor and confidant. To date, the whole family, community, staff and students of Gloryfield International College still reminisces about the good life of influence and impact she lived up till her last hours.

GLORYFIELD SCHOOL TODAY

Today, we continue to draw on our rich heritage and the good legacy of the late founder. The school is currently undergoing a new phase of rejuvenation, vigor and renewal to meet the demands and needs of today’s academic challenges. We are confident of having huge competitive advantage to stand the test of time and meet global best practices and the needs of the modern age.

In 2020, the school came to be under the management of a new school board and administration. With the renovation, expansion, rebranding and rejuvenating the school. A new style of management has taken over the school with high hope of ensuring that the school will be among the best school in Nigeria in the next few years. While the school is presently being managed by an education company “Gloryfield Transglobal Educational Company Limited” incorporated in the year 2021.

Tribute to the late founder Olori Florence Olanireti Adedugbe (1940 – 2020)

The late founder Olori Florence Olanireti Adedugbe, graduated from the University of London with a B.A. in Economics, History, and Law in the year 1967. She was an astute lover of God and highly passionate about the well-being of children.

It was on the backdrop of this passion and God’s vision that the school – Gloryfield, was founded on 23 August 1993; after many years of a successful teaching career in King’s College Lagos, Marywood Grammar School Ebute Metta Lagos, and her years of experience at the civil service with the Federal Ministry of Education.

Until the heavens called on the 31 day of October, 2020, she was a great mother, grandmother, proprietress, counsellor and confidant. To date, the whole family, community, staff and students of Gloryfield International College still reminisces about the good life of influence and impact she lived up till her last hours.

Olori Olanireti’s legacy lives on in the hearts of everyone who came in contact with her. The values she instilled, the lives she made better, the souls she won, and the great citadel of academic and spiritual upbringing that she left behind still resonate in the hearts and minds of relatives, staff, students, and parents of the Gloryfield family.

The school is currently undergoing a new phase of rejuvenation, vigor and renewal to meet the demands and needs of today’s academic challenges. We are confident of having huge competitive advantage to stand the test of time and meet global best practices. The vision of the late founder was to bring up children who will be God fearing, disciplined, successful assets and future leaders both nationally and internationally. The success stories of majority of our alumni are testament of this truth.
Her footprints cannot be erased from the sands of time and her legacy lives on to fulfil the dream of making the Gloryfield brand a light of life.

The welfare of our students is paramount. We operate an excellent boarding system with state of the art facilities and committed staffs that care and ensure a safe home away from home, where your ward receives moral upbringing that makes a “total man” in the larger society.

Members of staff know and maintain a cordial relationship with our students and provide educational guidance to assist them to make informed decisions.

Potentials are developed through our rich Extra-/Co-curricular activities which our students are assigned to, based on areas of interest and abilities. These curricular encompass activities in science clubs, art clubs, sport clubs, trade clubs and social clubs.
